Discovery Calls Part 1
We’ve all been there, you meet the contact,...
If you are a child of the 80s, you remember that song well. The Go-Gos, led by Belinda Carlisle, sang that one back in the days before cell phones and computers. Did you know that the #1 reason (according to Project: Time Off in 2016) that Americans don’t take time off is because they do not want to return to a mountain of work?
Guilty. That’s why most of us take our laptops on vacation, and when we’re on vacation it usually takes 1-2 days to actually mentally check out, and by the time you’re actually in vacation mode… it’s over.
For those in the sales realm, there is another reason to want to continue to work on vacation. You guessed it… commission. This is not necessarily fear or guilt; this is about the almighty dollar. But what if you could spend, say, time well in advance of your departure writing cleverly-scripted emails to prospects that just miraculously depart at the right time?
Now, you can do that. We do it when we take trips. Here’s how.
When we speak to prospects and get the “not now, but later” tactic from them, we place them into a cadence. We can then modify the communication we have with them right then so we are able to have Maverick reach out to them while we’re doing other stuff. It is summer, after all. If they reply, we get the email, and the cadence stops. If they do not reply, nothing happens. The next email you send goes out as scheduled, and on and on.
This makes it so that you do not have to enlist in a mad scramble to get out of the office, scheduling emails for the week you will be gone. You do not have to walk back into the office and, after you’ve finished sifting through your email, tackle a task list and push things off into the ether. You do not have to do the worst possible thing you can do on vacation – work the whole time.
Look, we’re not being unrealistic. We know you are going to check email. We know your boss is not going to respect the sanctity of vacation and will email you about some mundane items that could have easily waited. All good. That’s our normal in 2021, and it has been that way for a while. With Maverick, you can maximize your enjoyment of family time and vacation and maybe enjoy a boat drink or two.
